Elle est diplômée en Arts et Littérature du collège de Rouyn, Abitibi, Québec en 1977. Elle est diplômée en Beaux-Arts et en Education de l’Université du Québec à Chicoutimi en 1980. Elle a habité à Edmonton de 1982 à 1986. Elle a bénéficié d’une bourse du Conseil des Arts de l’Alberta en 1984. Elle vit à Vancouver depuis 1986. Elle a représenté le Canada dans une exposition internationale au Maroc en 1989. Elle a participé à des expositions d’arts textiles au Japon en 1994, en France en 1996 et en Espagne en 1998. Born in Ontario, Diane Roy grew up in northern Quebec. After attending college in Rouyn, Abitibi, where she received a D.E.C in Art and Literature in 1977, she went on to receive a B.A in Fine Arts and Education from the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi in 1980. The same year, she took part in an exhibition that toured across Canada. She lived in Edmonton from 1982 to 1986, and received a production grant from Alberta Culture in 1984. Vancouver, British Columbia, has been her home since 1986. From1986 to 1990, while continuing to work in fibre art, she studied the medium of holography. She has participated in many international exhibitions, representing Canada in a show in Morocco (1989) and showing her work in textile exhibitions in Japan (1994), France (1996) and Spain (1998). |
