On Saturday, May 4, 2019 was held the 27th edition of the Pacifique en chanson Show at Vancouver's Waterfront Theater, produced by the Conseil culturel et artistique francophone de la C.-B. This evening highlighted four francophone talents from British Columbia and the Yukon: Autoheart, Brigitte Desjardins, Françoise Thibault and the Stranger Brew band.

After a remarkable performance, the Stranger Brew trio wins the Marie Woolridge Award, opening the doors of Chant'Ouest! Stanger Brew was also rewarded for its good interaction with the public through the awarding of the Press Award, offered by the newspaper La Source.

Yukon's candidate, Brigitte Desjardins, won the Song Award for composing À l'heure. This award, offered by the Center culturel francophone de Vancouver, rewards the best original song.

For his part, singer-songwriter Autoheart won the favor of spectators and was awarded the Public's Choice Award by the Federation of Francophones of British Columbia.

Pacifique en chanson also offers the opportunity for “Jamais trop tôt”, presented in partnership with the Festival international de chanson de Granby and the Réseau national des galas de la chanson. This year, Agathe Riopel (Kelowna) and Cassandra Dubuc (Vancouver) were involved in this project. At the end of their performances, Agathe Riopel was selected by the jury members to represent British Columbia at the next Festival international de chanson de Granby.

The CCAFCB is proud to have offered all these artists the opportunity to develop their musical skills and thanks its trainers, the technical team and all the volunteers for their involvement in making this event a unique experience for artists.

Both a contest and a concert, Pacifique en chanson is a unique platform allowing Francophones artists in British Columbia and Yukon to take their first steps into the world of popular music. In addition to a rewarding on-stage experience, this platform offers candidates one-on-one training with a team of professionals. This is the first link in a chain leading to one of the finalists Chant'Ouest. Thereafter, the finalists Chant'Ouest have the chance to participate in the renowned Festival International de la chanson de Granby. Over the years, many artists from Western and Northern Canada have participated in this provincial event. Whether or not they achieved top honors, they were all winners in the end, enriched by on-stage experience, new friendships and renewed hopes for the future.
