The Francophone Dance Encounters in Western and Northern Canada took place on June 1 and 2, 2017 in Richmond, BC.

The initiative aimed to create a space for artistic expression and meeting for the French-speaking community of Western and Northern Canada.
The purpose of the event was to bring together artists and broadcasters from the provinces and territories of Western and Northern Canada: Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nuvavut.

For 2 days, artists from the West and North offered participatory showcases for the general public and broadcasters.
The audience was able to witness incredible performances around contemporary dance, with many participatory concepts!

The dance meetings were launched by the Fédération culturelle canadienne-française (FCCF) and organized by a committee composed of the Réseau des grands espaces (RGE), the Alberta Francophone Arts Group (RAFA), Made in BC - Dance on Tour and the Cultural and Artistic Council (CCAFCB). The event is partnered with the Richmond Cultural Center for the venue.

In addition to the presentation of contemporary creations, this meeting offered time for exchanges between artists and French-speaking broadcasters in the West and the North around the works, discussion on the target audiences and joint strategies to be deployed for touch them ... and all forms of activities to support the dissemination of dance of the Canadian Francophonie.
